This article is mainly aimed at music websites, but I do also feel that it can be incorporated into other sites too, in this article I am going to cover some basic ideas and my views behind a general view on developing your website, how to guide your content, tools to check your completion, how and what type of links to build, these tips will hopefully give you a confident approach to some of the things you should include when thinking about getting to the top of search engines Getting Started Basically there is a number of immediate do's and don'ts to consider when designing a website, some of these are online, so just look up top ten do's and don'ts on Google or something, My main problem once I got a website, was what the F**K do I write on here, and if you want to rank high on searches then your probably going to have to do a number of hours serious research, or you could obviously just read this article and follow the resources I highlight, I guess the first thing you'll need to do is look at the competition, for me I wanted to base my website on my own music, and include photos, lyrics, gig listings, news and a biog about my self, so I check up some of my favourite bands to see what they were doing and how I ranked these websites in terms of what information they gave, how detailed it was, and an overall impression of the style of these websites, From this it seems a simple navigation is best with a front page upon entering the site, so from the topics I've already mentioned, I setup a template which would act as the foundation for my site, Home/About/Gigs/News/Music/Photos/Lyrics/Contacts I will now address how I established the content for these pages Basically once I had decided that my site was going to be a music site, I realised that, in order to generate hits or visitors I would need to be appearing on the radar for certain searches, it seems obvious to me now, but at the time, it wasn't that obvious, I was guessing at what people would search for, and what content would work best, then I stumbled across a tool which would change my view on content for ever, basically http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ If you put the main key word for your site into this online program, then it will generate all the other key words associated, I would strongly suggest this forms the basics for your contents, e.g., if you key music you get the following result 6374397 music download 3974815 music 1095695 free music downloads 927988 music video 559262 yahoo music 470195 free music 340798 music code 318043 download music 296965 music site myspace.com as the top 8 and how they were searched in the last month, it seemed tome that by utilising this list to develop my content I could ensure that search terms that were actually being keyed into the top engines, i.e. google/msn/yahoo would actually appear on my website, Further to this, more specific content, aligned with myself and my music would form the rest, so taking this list, I developed a brief for what each section of my web page would include, and then made a grid, and aligned each searched terms into the relevant section of my site, e.g. Home: There is "Free music downloads" available on the website Music: on this part of the site you can "download Music" etc etc, until I had used as many of the terms thrown up by overture as I can in each relevant part of my site, Then I began to write the rest of the content around these key searched terms, After a bit of revision, I was really please with the results, and most of the top searched terms around music were in my site, divided across the various pages i.e. home, music, etc etc, I would say at this point what you want to include in the various sections of your site is really up to you I think that in the end, using this method, your content is much more like the a well marketed free music website, But in the end, it's what it going to get you to the top of search engines, and get your site visited by the demographic of people who are searching for what in this case is music, Basically, I won't cover actual design as this article isn't really about that, or about content and how to hit the top, I guess at this point, you have the content as desired, guided by the overture key words, and that's what's important Next links It's a really good idea to have as many links as you can, For music this comes in a number of forms, Firstly, the is free band sites, i.e. soundclick.com (where I currently host my music) and gargeband.com etc etc, there really loads, as a start point these are a really great source of "non-reciprocal" links to your site, the more of these you have the better, I spent allot of time, registering, with these, perhaps posting one song, and if your luckily like me and you aren't just starting out, you may as a musician already have been reviewed, reviews make great content for these types of website, and will encourage people to visit your official home page the next step I would suggest, is too check out the competition again www.freewebsubmission.com has a link popularity checker, you can go on here, and see who or where is linking to you mates band, spend time trailing these, then visit the sites and see if you can get a free nonreciprocal link, as many as you can, enter band directories (or directories that are relevant) and try to build up your link popularity, again, for the description of your website, you can use reviews, or general quotes that seem appropriate, I do have some links out from my website, I mainly think that links to venues i've played at work well, other links are purely just text, and are not hyperlinks, as i've discovered, its only really a benefit to have inbound and few out bound, SEO submission, There are plenty of places to submit your site for crawling, I recon that Google eventually will crawl your site once you build the links up, but basically using the seo submission on www.freewebsubmission.com works pretty well, I generally stick to submission that works automatically, some will require verification from your email address. Finally the last thing that you can do to increase your traffic, is probably the most time consuming but, also pretty useful become an active member of a message board that is relevant to your site, basically read up, see what other have to say, and keep up to speed with latest developments from here, I would not recommend though, posting things such as, "please go to my site and check it out" etc etc, its spam and its unproductive, just simple post in normal conversations and have your website as your tag, Anyhow, I think this more or less concluded everything that I want to tell you about how I become top of the search engine, and got traffic to my music site, I guess there are further things you would like to know, like how do I write a biog, etc, but I think these things are subjective, I have basically told you in this article How to guide your content Tools to check your competition How and what type of links to build And a general view on developing your website If you do have questions about this, I would really suggest using search engine to look up things like how to write a biog for music, and other things similar, A final point I hope you enjoyed this article and it gave you some guidance and tools to develop your site further and hopefully get it on the search engine radar, As a final point I would say, do not in any case spam email people about your site, Resource box About the author Hi I am Andy, I'm an unsigned musician, and I have spent the last three months developing a website, as part of marketing and generating awareness about my work on the internet, it was a hard trail of lots of useful and lots of useless information, so I have tried to summarise the best things I learnt in an article, which you have just read, hopefully it was of use to you, and will save others that are following in my path time and energy when deciding how to develop content for their website, Many thanks for reading Andy If you wish to visit the website discussed in this article, and see example of how I have applied the above, then please visit www.bleedinghands.com or if you wish to comment on this article please contact me through my home page bleedinghands@gmail.com PsP Music Downloads – Review Get the Best PsP handhelds are one of the newest and most fun ways to play games, watch movies and listen to music. PsP music downloads are just some things that you can do on your psp besides just games. PsP music downloads is a fun and easy. There are many places on the net were one can find psp music downloads and psp movie downloads. Some sites have you pay per song or movie basis and sometimes charge up to a couple dollars for each download. Other sites require a membership and a monthly fee were user share files. This method sometimes can be frustrating when you are in the middle of a download and the user signs off before the download is complete. I prefer to use sites that have a onetime membership for psp music, psp movie, psp games and psp software downloads. The best sites have their databases jammed pack with over a million songs, movies, games, and software available for downloading. Some of these sites have no limit to the amount of downloads you do per day. There are some sites were the database does not have quality psp movies and psp music downloads and they might be very slow to download. I have placed a link at the top of this site for a one that has quality psp music downloads, psp movies, psp games and software downloads. You may want to check it out. Once you have downloaded some psp music, psp movies and games you can take them anywhere you go. This is great when you have places to go or have long travel times to get somewhere. It really helps to pass the time away, while your having fun either listening to psp music or watching a psp movie or just playing a new game. There are so many games available you should never run out of games to play music to listen to and movies to watch. Make sure that what ever site you choose either comes with a money back guarantee in case your not satisfied with their database of music songs games and software. I have been using the above site for over three months and never had the need to ask for my money back. I now have so many psp music downloads, psp movies and games downloaded that I often find it hard to decide which game to play, song to listen to, or movie to watch. If you're wise and make the right choice you will be having fun all day long with your psp.
